LG G Pro 2 – Android v4.4.2 (KitKat) with Quad core 2260 MHz processor

lg-g-pro-2LG has been coming up with superb devices for a while now. We saw them launch the Optimus G, Nexus 4, G Pro, G2, Nexus 5 and various other devices that impressed us. This Korean manufacturer has working hard to give tough competition to the market leader. The recently launched LG G2 is a powerful device which brought some new hardware and software features with it. Now they have showcased another new device which would go against the popular phablets in the market. This new device is LG G Pro 2, the second iteration of their LG G Pro phablet.

This device is slightly bigger than the previous device and has got some new hardware and software features. They have put the powerful Snapdragon 800 chipset in it that we saw on the LG G2 and Nexus 5. Also they have increased the display size and battery capacity over the G Pro. The camera has also been improved and you can do lot more than ever. So here is a closer look on this upcoming device.

    Design

The device measures 157.9 x 81.9 x 8.3 mm and weighs 172 gms, exactly the same as G Pro. You can see already from the numbers that the device is huge, even bigger than the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Using the device with one hand is something we humans can’t do. While the G Pro had a physical home key up front like older LG devices, this one follows the scheme we saw on the G2. The power and volume controls are on the back of the device. You can easily operate these controls using your first finger once you get accustomed to this setup.

The build quality is pretty good though now we would love to see them use some premium materials. The device will be available in three colours: white, silver and titan. Just like the G2, the G Pro 2 has got a very slim bezel around the display. The display measures 5.9 inches measured diagonally. The LG logo sits below the display where the physical key used to be on the G Pro. Overall the design is neat and the device surely feels premium.

    Display

The device, as we already said, has a 5.9 inch display. It is an IPS LCD display like on many other high end LG devices. It has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 which gives it a pixel density of 373 pixels per inch. It used to be almost 400 pixels per inch on the G Pro due to smaller display size. Being an IPS display, it has got superb colour replication and viewing angles. Sunlight readability should be good too as it has got decent brightness. Watching high definition videos would be an absolute treat on this device. To protect the display from scratches, they have gone for gorilla glass 3 protection on the display. So even if you put keys and coins in the same pocket as your phone, you won’t end up with scratches on the display.

    Hardware

Like the Nexus 5 and G2, this device runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset. This is one of the most powerful chipset powering many popular devices. The quad core processor runs at a clock speed of 2.26 GHz. The graphics are handled by an Adreno 330 GPU and it has got 3 GB of RAM. You get the storage option of 16 and 32 GB with a micro SD slot that can house storage up to 64 GB. They have switched the 3140 mAh battery in G Pro for a slightly bigger 3200 mAh battery in this one.

For connectivity you get the usual options like USB 2.0, GPRS, EDGE, 3G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and Infrared.

    Camera

The device has got a 13 megapixel camera. While the resolution is same as the G Pro, there have been a number of other improvements. It has got optical image stabilisation with the lens assembly mounted on springs. The competition is stiff with all the rivals boasting high end camera specs so they would have to live up to the expectations. You get the usual goodies like face detection and high dynamic range photography. They have added something called ‘magic focus’ which allows you to alter the depth of focus. The upgrade here is in the video section. Instead of 1080p, you can record videos in 2160p at 30 fps. You can also record slow motion videos at very high frame rate. It supports 1080p videos at 60 fps and 720p videos at 120 fps.

They have done something fresh to the front camera as well. With the 2.1 megapixel front camera, they have added something to shoot selfies in dark. You can reduce the size of viewfinder and it would put a white border around it. This would illuminate your face in dim lit environments.

    Software

The device runs android 4.4.2 Kit Kat with the LG UI on top of it. This is pretty standard but they have added some new features like the Knock Code. Some LG devices previously got the Knock-on feature which allowed people to turn on the display by tapping on it twice. On this device, the display is divided into four zones and you can set a combination to tap on the display. This would turn on the display and unlock the device as well. Also there is content lock which can be used to password protect certain files, photos and videos. There is also a mini view like on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 which scales down the display for one handed operation.

    Verdict

This device seems promising and with all the new software features, a tough rival to the Galaxy Note 3. We are yet to see when this device makes it to our market. If they price it well, it might sell in good numbers.

6 Ways to Spot Movies that Worth your Time

originalRegardless of the race, people have a soft heart on movie viewing. Movies have long been helping people see the world in different light. Unconsciously, it is bridging some cultural and distance gaps between nations. Yet, as a usual scene in life, there are ones made in lesser taste.

In order to filter the movies that worth your while, money and anticipation, here are some guides to quality movie watching.

    Read Reviews

It is favorable to check the internet for some movie reviews before jumping in the ticket booth. Though people have different view on beauty, you can somehow gauge the quality of the movie from the review of some essay writers. Meanwhile, be careful not to jump on the sites of spoilers. Otherwise, you will have the most boring film ever made. I can recommend imdb.com and rottentomatoes.com because these two websites are comprehensive and do not spoil the movie.

    Check out Promos

There is nothing more relaxing than to watch a worth remembering movie free. Check out promos, free screening and phone friends who have access to media. Most of the time, free screening opens during film festivals. Or you can actually join contests to win movie tickets. There bloggers who do this kind of contest. Even the social media account of an upcoming movie sets a contest so that they could give away movie tickets. Just be on a constant look on different social media sites like Facebook.

    Watch Online

If you are so into upcoming movies, you must pause for a while and do some rewind. Watch movies made before your time and see what’s behind them. You will be surprised to see movies you never imagined have existed. It’s also important to educate yourself about movies made before you were born. You will discover different movies who have moved the society into tears or anger. Who know, you might turn into a movie buff or a cinephiles.

    Watch at off-peak times

If you are after saving, you can see a movie a week after its first-full show. Most of the time, movie houses slash down prices after the peak. Also, you may try to watch during mid-day so you won’t be wasting your time falling in line with the excited ones. Just manage your schedule accordingly.

    Watch with Friends

You are not just having a good time, but you are slashing down excess spending if you watch movie with friends. Most of the cinemas are giving away discounts for group viewing, so it’s your chance. Besides, it’s really a good thing to watch a movie with your friends because it will be a form of bonding time. Why not grab it, right? It won’t hurt.

    Watch alone

If you are about to watch an extra sensible movie, then you must go alone. There are movies that require full attention, so don’t dare bring a girl friend.

Movie time is always fun to do and you should make it a habit; whether you are watching it on big screen or in the comfort of your home.

The LG G Flex – A Neat Idea, But Not Quite Up to Snuff Yet?

The LG G Flex has a lot of eyes glued to its bendy body all across this technology hungry globe, and for good reason. It’s the very first of its kind, a 4G smart-phone with a flexible display that could potentially change the game in the mobile phone industry.

Said to be leaving the laboratory and invading the American market during the first quarter of 2014, there has already been quite a bit of not so hush-hush discussion as to whether or not this new model style is a doozy or a dud. Surprisingly and unfortunately, as it turns out, the latter seems to be the more general conclusion.

The word of this invention hit the streets last year and the competition was already underway with Samsung and their Galaxy Round. Featuring not only a truly remarkably bendable screen, the large LG G Flex handset also touts a brilliant 720P OLED display, 2 GB of RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 mobile processor and a lovely 13 MP camera to boot.

That all sounds well and good, of course, but when will the people get their own hands-on time to really make their personal conclusions on the G Flex? As it turns out the question is still on the table since the president of LG Canada, Frank Lee, merely stated in Las Vegas the this smart-phone will in fact be arriving on T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint. No details concerning its price or date of release were given. The Vice President of Product Management at Sprint, David Owen, did however state that he had been carrying the G Flex for weeks on end and that it has been quickly and consistently noticed by others on the streets with favorable reactions. Other reviewers on the web, however, have not been looking upon this new offering in the same light. Ultimately, the decision and conclusions concerning the G Flex will be entirely subjective, but only time and experience will tell as to if this mobile device will indeed bring about a revolution in the smart-phone, as well as the greater technological, world.

  • Few Smartphone Predictions for New Year 2014

Few Smartphone Predictions for New Year 2014

Last year we witnessed a large number of mobile technologies including high resolution 1080P displays, quard core processors, professional DSLR etc. So, what in store for the 2014? Here are some five predicitions for smartphone technology that might turn out to be true in 2014:

    1. Curved Screen

In the end of 2013 we heard a lot on curved OLED display for many smart devices, where Samsung’s Galaxy Round and LG’s G Flex introduced how it would look and work, yet each company trails a new form factor in their home nation of Korea but in 2014 mostly will push curved screen devices in western countries too. However, its unclear what the advantage would curved display will carry than that of flat display.samsung-5-inch-curved-youm-prototype

    2. Shift to 64-Bit

As we all know Apple has indroduced us to Apple A7 SoC, used in newly released Iphone 5s, iPad mini and iPad Air. It was also the first ARM chip introduced to consumer devices with 64-bit address and as the news spread, companies such as Qualcomm and Samsung rapidly blench into action, revealing their next SoC’s would be 64-bit capable and based on ARMv8-A structure. However, few of like the Snapdragn 410 are proved not to be a high-end chip, where Cortex-A53 is the succesor to that of Cortex-A7 that means It won’t be as powerful as Cortex-A15 or other ARM CPU cores, However, it is scheduled for release in second half of 2014 for smartphones

    3. Display Beyond 1080p

We witnessed amazing screen displays with 1080p resolution but can you think beyond? Well many people said 720p to 1080p was a benifit. However, progessing higher to 1920×1080 seems to have lesser benifits as 1080p already look like paper. In spite of this fact, companies like Samsung and LG are looking ahead for 2560×1440 display and in 2014 we’re likely to see few handsets with this feature.

    4. More Operating Systems

Although android has occupied a major chunk of the mobile OS, same will carry in 2014 but likely there would be more to add-up with the launch of few more operating systems with something different, or promising to change the way we use mobile devices. However, many of them will be Linux variants and would be targeting low-end devices which yet to be exploited. Some like Firefox OS, Sailfish OS, BlackBerry 10, Ubuntu Touch, Tizen and many others we have heard in 2013. But still Android, iOS and Windows phone will remain the big dogs for time to come however, they too will keep on bringing some innovation in their devices to give good competition to their competitors.

    5. Cheaper Is Better

All the companies have tried their best to offer decent hardware at a low price and the Google Nexus 5 was up with fantastic display for just $350, and the Nexus 7 also proved once again thta 7-inch tablet can be cheaper and same did the Moto G. Well, let’s not forget the Windows phone either, where Nokia’s Lumia 520 was tagged with one of the bestselling smartphones of the year. However, same in 2014 Google’s camp will continue with the cheap Nexus devices as they have much more to offer with the new Android 4.4 KitKat too.

10 Reasons to Buy Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2

samsung-galaxy-s-duos-2-slitSamsung has got a huge lineup and no matter what your requirements are, they have got a device for you. The Galaxy S Duos was launched long back and it was outdated very soon after it made its appearance. It ran a single core processor and there was nothing special about it except the dual SIM feature at a good price. The number of units it sold was solely on the basis of its dual SIM feature and its price. Apart from this device, there was no Samsung device in this price bracket which could stand strong against the rivals.

Now however, they have come up with another device, another iteration of the Galaxy S Duos, which seems to be a promising device at a good price. The Galaxy S Duos 2 improves considerably over the S Duos and addresses various issues with the device. The S Duos was laggy and slow due to a single core which has been taken care of by the dual core processor. There are other improvements as well in terms of connectivity and software. Here we give you some reasons why you should consider buying this device.

    1. Dual core processor- This new device addresses the issue with the previous one. Most users of Galaxy S Duos complain about the device being slow and laggy. The primary reason was that by the time S Duos was launched, there were already a good number of dual core devices available at a good price. The Galaxy S Duos 2 is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual core processor which makes it much faster. The applications launch quickly, phone runs smooth and the overall experience of this new device is much better.

    2. Low cost- The S Duos 2 is priced less than 11 K in India which makes it a really good buy. For the price, you aren’t buying a compromise just for the sake of dual SIM. You will get a good dual core device which would perform well in your everyday use. You can easily run your social networking apps and web browsers. Not only that but you can play a good number of games too. And everything for a price that won’t get you a dual core android device from any other big brand.

    3. Samsung it is- Well this might not appear as a strong point to some but for most people it is. Samsung has established itself very well in the market and thesamsung-galaxy-s-duos-2 products are reliable. You also get support via the Samsung service network spread throughout the country. It is something that many people ignore at first but realize when they need repairs. You can easily find a Samsung service center in your city just in case your device decides to go rogue on you.

    4. Newer version of Android – The Galaxy S Duos runs android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich while the S Duos 2 runs Android Jelly Bean 4.2. You know the rule here, newer is better. While the interface is mostly similar, Jelly Bean is faster than ICS and has got a good number of features over the ICS.

    5. Software updates- As the Galaxy S Duos 2 is a newer device, you will get software updates for longer. It was on the internet that Samsung will update most of its new android devices to Android 4.4 Kit Kat soon. Who knows that even this device might be on their list? Even if they don’t provide you with a version update, you will be updated with minor fixes and updates.

    6. Faster 3G- While the Galaxy S Duos and most other low end devices support 3G data transfer rates up to 7.2 mbps; the Galaxy S Duos 2 supports transfer rates up to 21 mbps. We are very sure that you won’t like to stick to a device that can’t use your data plan to its full. With the improved speed you can expect good browsing speeds, reduced server response times and enhanced downloading capabilities.

    7. Bluetooth 4.0– The Galaxy S Duos 2 has got Bluetooth 4.0 against the Bluetooth 3.0 on S Duos and many other devices. It allows for faster data transfer rates and improved connections. Also many new Bluetooth devices need Bluetooth 4.0 to make use of their full capabilities.

    8. Storage – While both, Galaxy S Duos and Galaxy S Duos 2, have got the same amount of internal storage, the S Duos 2 can support memory cards up to 64 GBs, twice as much as the previous version. While you might not want to put that much storage on a low end device, it is good enough to handle it just in case you decide to. You can flood your device with loads of music and high definition videos and it won’t complain.samsung-galaxy-s-duos-2-rear

    9. Improved camera- The camera on this device can capture still images in 5 megapixels which is the same as the previous version. But this one can record videos in 720p which wasn’t possible with the Galaxy S Duos. You get better video recording quality, thanks to the 720p recording and the videos play effortlessly on the device. The camera interface is also improved on this device. There are a couple of additions and improvements, most of which are due to the newer version of software on this device.

    10. Touch Wiz- Personal opinions might vary but Samsung’s Touch Wiz UI is one of the best we have seen on android devices. It is simple yet packs in a lot of features. There are a good number of customization features that you won’t find on the stock android launcher. Also there are a couple of gestures that make life easier with Samsung devices. Even while it has got so many customization options, it is easy to use and neat unlike the Sense UI on HTC or the Sony UI.
