How To Make Your Smartphone Work For You

It is hard to know all the ins and outs of various cell phone models. There are so very many options that it’s difficult to know how to find a good cell phone and then how to optimize it. The article below will provide some great tips that will help you maximize your options to improve your cell phone experience.

Restart your phone periodically to purge the memory of programs like Facebook and Twitter. This ensures it runs quickly and correctly.

There is no need to update to a new phone so quickly. Many times, it’s not necessary. Though many providers make consistent changes, they usually are not big ones. Make sure you read up on the phone prior to buying it to determine if it is something you want. You often won’t.

Top 5 Best Battery Saver Apps for Android Smartphones

It’s likely that your cell phone is used multiple times daily. But be sure to restart it every so often. Smart phones work like computers. If you periodically restart the device, your smartphone operates more efficiently and without consuming excess memory. Even if you only restart your phone once or twice weekly, you are likely to see improvements.

Be wary when it comes to extended warranty protection. They’re often just a waste of money. If a cellular phone is about to fail, it mostly happens on the year it is covered by its basic warranty. Many people get new phones every year, so it’s not worth the money.

The longer you own your smartphone, the more it will slow down. That is why updating is harder as time goes by. There are times where you will need to choose. You can choose the features you already have, or upgrade to a more advanced version.

Use your smartphone as your wallet

Be sure that you actually need a smartphone before you buy one. They cost quite a bit, but they also offer many different features. However, not everyone requires the latest, most innovative features — just a simple means of calling others. Smartphones not only cost more up front, but require a higher fee each month. They are not the best investment for everyone.

Be sure you observe what others have and speak to them before purchasing your next cell phone. They will have great reviews for you. They will be able to help you pick out a phone, making the shopping process easier.

If your sole purpose for getting a phone is for talking, you do not need a smartphone. Many people own a smartphone, but they tend to use it for going online or checking emails. There are many extra things that you would be paying for if you get a smartphone.

Don’t let your phone’s battery die before recharging it. Batteries need to be recharged from time to time. If you always let the battery get low, it will have trouble holding a charge. Just get into the habit of doing it before it goes dead.

If you don’t know much about cell phones, it’s normal. Things are always getting bigger and better. Use what you have read here to get more from your cell phone.

Xiaomi unveiled MIUI 6: Looks Inspired by Apple’s iOS 7 UI

MIUI 6 includes more colourful, minimalist interface with enhanced security features. Upcoming Xiaomi, Mi 4 and best selling Mi 3, will receive the MIUI 6 official update soon after another round of developer testing.Xiaomi, is taking its “Apple of china” title too literally. As its latest version of UI is looking very similar to Apple’s iOS 7.

MIUI 6, which is Xiaomi’s upcoming UI for its latest phones and tablets, looks almost exactly like Apple’s iOS. It includes the same bright color palette and a flat design. It even does away with app drawer and puts all apps on your home screen. Xiaomi used big white spaces accented with bright colors within its core apps, very much similar to iOS 7.

Despite the changes in the looks, there are few enhancements. The dialer app for example will show you caller ID for unknown numbers.

Other major changes include lockscreen display. You can see the number of pending notifications straight from the lock screen and get to the app showing it directly by pulling up on the number. The Notification Center has also been revamped to show floating pop-up notifications at the top of the screen without compromising with the whole display. The notifications are interactive, allowing you to do things like answer a phone call from the notice.

It is not surprising that many people are calling MIUI 6 a straight iOS rip-off, but it also have features exclusive to MIUI such as customizable notification toggles, MIUI themes and the permissions manager.

Welcome the Whyd’s new streaming App That Saves Songs from across the Web

The new music start up just launched its social music streaming iOS app. This app provides a centralized music streaming service by pulling songs from other platforms around the web. Providing its users to play and share nearly any song almost instantly.

The app functions similarly like the company’s web-based social streaming service which is first launched in 2012. Allowing users to collect and share songs culled from other streaming services, including SoundCloud, Vimeo, YouTube and Spotify without leaving the app.

“The significance might be lost on some people, who just assume that everything should also come in app form,” the company wrote in a blog spot.

After creating a profile the app search for individual songs or playlists created by other users. You can simply stream songs individually or collect tracks into playlists of your own, which get shared on your profile. In this app tracks load surprisingly quickly. Most search results come from more indie-centric sources like Soundcloud and music blogs, meaning that even more obscure tracks are easy to find.

After making the web version of its service available to the public after an extended closed beta the Paris-based start up raised $700,000 in funding.

Whyd claims it is already working on an Android app, but Windows Phone users “might have to wait a little bit longer.”

How to download Flappy Bird on Android and Hack the score !
In an interview with Forbes, Flappy Bird developer Dong Nguyen has opened the real reason why he removed the extremely popular game from the App Store and the Google Play Store. According to him, the game’s addictiveness is what forced him to remove it, and the game will not back.

I am sorry ‘Flappy Bird’ users, 22 hours from now, I will take ‘Flappy Bird’ down. I cannot take this anymore.

— Dong Nguyen (@dongatory) February 8, 2014

Flappy Bird, an 8-bit inspired game features a bird that must navigate through a series of pipes extending from the top and bottom of the screen. Player taps the screen to keep the bird flying and not hitting the ground or pipes. Flappy Bird became so popular for being highly challenging and difficulty level.

Nguyen cites people “sharing their scores on social networks” as a key reason for Flappy Bird’s ascent, and denies claims that he used questionable tactics to inflate the game’s rankings.

“I respect other people’s opinions about my games,” says Nguyen. “I am sure I didn’t cheat anything, and I don’t have to do that.”

‘Jelly’ helps Crowdsourcing answers from your social networks

Twitter co-founder Biz Stone has launched Jelly, an app that helps its users to find an answer to whatever question puzzles them at the moment.

Jelly is intended to tap into the potential of users’ extended social network. It allows users to post a query, accompanied by a picture or a drawing, and receive a response from the people they know and trust.

The idea behind Jelly, was to create a search engine that would give relevant results with knowledge from friends and family, rather than from a generic algorithm. Although, there are several existing social QnA apps and forums like Quora, Jelly utilises pictures for the same purpose.

One can click a picture and ask his/her friends across Facebook and Twitter. With imagery, the discussion becomes more interactive. Each query is submitted to the people in the network who also have Jelly. The app notifies the user back when there are answers.

The company touts three specific benefits to its app. The first is that it works with your existing social networks — it’s not something new that you have to sign up for. Secondly, it allows you to forward your questions outside of your friends so it’s not constrained to 150 people or 5,000 folks on a particular social network. Lastly, questions aren’t limited to text-only. Users can upload an image, crop it, reframe, draw on it to help add more specific context to their inquiry.

The idea for a social search service has been criticised in the media, with many observers pointing out that users can already share their questions, accompanied by pictures, through existing social networking services, and don’t really need Jelly.

Jelly was named after the jellyfish. Stone was inspired by this sea creature saying that the neurological decentralization of the animal has caused it to be more of a ‘group-think’ one whose brain is “more ‘we’ than ‘me’.”

Angry Birds Go! is now available for all smartphones

Mobile gaming giant Rovio has launched its latest title on Android and iOS today. Anry Birds Go is a free “kart” racer based in the Angry Birds universe, featuring feathered friends from the popular artillery shooter. If you’ve played Mario Kart or any similar titles you’ll know what to expect here — fast-paced 3D racing with a focus on power-ups and weapons, featuring familiar characters (birds and pigs, in this case.) There’s a variety of game modes to choose from besides a straight-up race to the finish, including Time Boom, Fruit Splat, Champion Chase and Mega Match.

Free-to-play is problematic for Rovio, partly because of its generous approach to updates for previous Angry Birds titles – if you paid 59p for the original game in 2011, you were still getting new levels for it in 2013 – and partly because of the large number of children who play the Angry Birds games.

On either front, if Angry Birds Go’s in-app purchase prodding is too aggressive it’ll spark a big backlash. The game is out today for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry 10 – one of the first games to hit all four platforms on its launch day – so how has Rovio done? Pretty well on all counts.
➤ Angry Birds Go: iOS | Android | Windows Phone | BlackBerry 10

Angry Birds Go! obviously isn’t a Mario Kart killer, given that the games exist on completely different devices. The wider threat of a growing number of children spending their gaming time with Angry Birds rather than Mario, Pokemon, Link and co is a separate (and often heated) discussion, but for now the two karting games aren’t going head-to-head.

Angry Birds Go! is great fun now, with plenty of potential for evolution in 2014 and beyond. A few tweaks to the in-app purchases aside, it’ll be raising eyebrows for positive, not negative reasons.

Angry Birds Star wars 2 is out !

After hyping it up for quite a bit of time, Rovio has finally released Angry Birds Star Wars II. This sequel to the Star Wars-infused spin-off looks to shake things up quite a bit. For starters, it’s based on the three prequels that were released after the original Star Wars Trilogy.

Another big change in this sequel is that you can now choose to play with the darkside — that is, you can play with the pigs! That gives you the ability to play as top villains such as Darth Maul, Darth Vader and more. In all, there are over 30 playable characters, the ability to bring those characters into your game by taking pictures of your telepod figurines, and more.

Angry Birds Star Wars was one of the most intriguing new directions explored by the franchise made by Rovio, and now it seems that the Finnish developer is back with Angry Birds Star Wars II.
The installment features new characters and a new storyline which will even let players choose their side, either go with the good birds or the bad piggies.

The game, like its predecessor, combines the bird-tossing action of the Angry Birds franchise with the powers, characters, and settings of Star Wars universe.

WeChat Social Messaging App Review
Networking apps are good to have for connecting with friends while on the go. They are not only easy to use and convenient but also add in an element of fun. While there is no dearth of social applications that allow you to connect with friends, one that has been garnering a lot of attention is WeChat. We decided to find out how good the application was and if it was worth downloading?

Developed by Tencent , the largest Internet company in APAC , We Chat is the only Social Messaging App to offer Video/Audio calling and voice messaging with about 200 million users worldwide. It is a free mobile communication and social networking app for Smart phones with features like Video/Audio Calling, Push-to-Talk Voice Messaging, Group Chat-text & voice (up to 40 people) and Location based friend-discovery social features.

WeChat’s interface is something that will take getting used to. On the homescreen you will find all your contacts who use the application. You can start a conversation with them by simply tapping on their name. You can convert the conversation into group chat by clicking on the face icon on the right hand corner at the top of the screen. Clicking on the keyboard icon will allow you to type a message. This keyboard icon also alternates as the speaker icon to send voice chat when the keyboard is in use. To send a voice message press on the ‘Hold to Talk’ button, you will have to keep it pressed till you are done with the message, simply release to send. Currently you can send messages up to one minute long. You can cancel the recording by an up swipe movement.

Pros: Apart from the novelty this app offers ,this app has a sound presence with its novelty in chatting as briefed above. To use the best of this app from the android market, you and your friends has to use WeChat and then no one is going to stop you.The speed is fast and sitting from UK , you can send a faster message to Turkey. And if you have connected your FB friends, then be ready for a typing war.It also offers the convince of grouping your friends/family together and then do a group chat. A well designed app for conversation at great speed l. A new feature Video which has been added recently lets you to group video chat. The mobiles in -build camera works at its best for you and you can talk roaming around with just a click on the go. A cool app which is totally free offers you ads-free HD Video Chat.

Sharing Files and Chatting through PC
Extendability of using WeChat even from PC through the browser is by scanning the code displayed in web.wechatapp.com .One addition here is “File Transfer” where we can transfer files (text, image, audio, video, and any other file types) between my phone and my computer with File Transfer. We can also to the same with our contacts in WeChat.

Video Chat and Voice Messaging :
Another great leap in this social app making it popularity grow very fast. Using this service, it is very easy to send and receive voice messages at greater speed as well as use web cam on the mobile to its best.

From the above image you can see that to use Voice Messaging, you got to Press& Hold the button on the right side for sending your Voice Message. A sophisticated way of using free Voice Chat on Mobile/Tablet/IOS .
Video Calling
To use this free feature, just click on the add button on the lower bar of the app and choose Video Call (see Features and Addition Image above ) .

Plugins
With couple of plugins pre-installed plugins, WeChat offers more.Moments , a new plugins uses Face Book like feature with a WeChat cover and options for text ,photo as well video sharing (see “getting social ” image above).

Cons : Being a Chinese social app , whenever you stumble upon someone or someone stumbles upon you he/she happens to be a Chinese.Rarely we happen to meet an English speaking one. Also, it also surprises you with a ping from unknown people cleverly using this app for inappropriate use and this personally doesn’t work for me.But still, being a part of “look around” and “shake“, it offers loads of fun for people who love to make new friends .If I have to offer one suggestion for improvement, it will be that there should exist a way to acknowledges this app as relevant to Face Book/Twitter and using them for proper use other than unknown flirting hiding their identity .

Neutral View: As far as the privacy is concerned , unless we allow this app to post on your behalf on the FB wall when used Face Book to sign in, otherwise with use of We Chat ID’s and QR codes , this app is perfectly safe and fine chatting with new people with its Fact sheet
- Protects user data by offering on-demand contact list backup and retrieval to/from our cloud-based service.
- Provides a secure and robust social networking platform that emphasizes user privacy and fast response performance.
When compared to other social apps giants like FaceBook , Twitter, Tango , Palringo , etc that flocks the Internet , Android Markets, Google Play and iTunes , WeChat offers the combined effects/results that all the above specified apps offers. WeChat apps multimedia communication flexibility and convenience offers hassle free text messaging, hold-to-talk voice messaging, Video/Audio calling, broadcast (one-to-many) messaging, photo/video sharing, location sharing, and contact information exchange at all in One.

Conclusion

Overall, WeChat is a good option that you can consider if you are looking for a networking app. But considering that there are several other networking apps that have quite established their presence, convincing your friends to switch to WeChat could be challenging. However, the video calling feature is something that can give it an edge over others. And while the app offers the necessary features to network, there are some that you can do without, especially if you are concerned about privacy. Thankfully, you can disable these features and still be able to use the app without a problem. You will however need to get used to the interface. Lastly, even though the app is free it is devoid of ads.
