The mobile manufacturing companies are never tired of pouring out innumerable new smartphone models in the global market. The smartphone market is perhaps the most happening and fast changing than any other market. Keeping with the global market trend, the Indian smartphone market is also always on the roll, where mobile manufacturing giants work side by side with the least known companies. In the vast and fast maturing Indian smartphone market, the budget smartphone segment is perhaps the most sought after one, as this appeal to a much larger section of buyers. While these budget phones don’t burn a big hole in your pocket, they also offer great features and able performance to deliver an efficient smartphone experience.

In the massive ocean of the Indian budget smartphone market comes yet two new models that we are going to put next to each other to compare. These two are namely the new Asus ZenFone 2 and the new Micromax Yu Yureka.

Among these the Asus ZenFone 2 is yet to be released in the Indian market, while it has already launched internationally at the 2015 CES. The new Asus ZenFone 2 is offered in the attractive color choices of Osmium Black, Ceramic White, Glamour Red, Glacier Gray and Sheer Gold. It has been listed by the e-retailer Flipkart and is expected to have its Indian launch on 23rd of April with an expected starting price of Rs. 12,600.

On the other hand, the new Micromax Yu Yureka has hit the Indian mobile world on 18th of December, 2014. The Yu Yureka is available in the market in Moonstone Grey color and has been priced very attractively at just Rs. 8,999.

Now, let us put these two new budget smartphones side by side in order to decide which one offers a better package considering its own price tag, and is a better choice to invest your hard earned money in.

    Asus ZenFone 2

    asus-zenfone-2-mobile-phone-large-1

    Design & Display

The new Asus ZenFone 2 smartphone has a cool and polished design and is actually better than the Yu Yureka, being more of a mid-ranged phone. It looks sleek as well as cool with a nice colorful display. It offers a more classic design language that lends it a more premium look and feel. Also its attractive color options make it an easy pick for those for whom style really matters.

The Asus ZenFone 2 flaunts a quality large 5.5 inch IPS capacity touchscreen along with a screen resolution of 1080 pixels and pixel density of 403ppi. The sharp screen offers good color reproduction and it also comes with the protection of Gorilla Glass 3.

    Cameras

The Asus ZenFone 2 boasts of a good 13 MP rear camera along with dual LED flash that offers good and crisp photos and videos. The selfie lovers are offers a nice 5 MP front snapper to click away detailed selfies.

    Processor & OS

Here comes the main difference among the two phones. The Asus ZenFone 2 offers great choices of a 2.3 GHz Quad Core and 1.8 GHz Quad Core processors, with Intel Atom Z3580 or Intel Atom Z3560 64 bit chipsets respectively. The ZenFone 2 runs on the latest Android version 5.0 Lollipop Operating System with all its advantages.

    RAM & Storage

The Asus ZenFone 2 comes with a choice of 2 and 4 GB depending on the model and offers the choices of 16, 32 and 64 GB of inbuilt storage space.

    Other Features

The Asus ZenFone 2 is the first 4GB smartphone in the world and supports all the latest connectivity options. It draws its juice from a 3000 mAh battery pack that should last a full day.

    Micromax Yu Yureka

    yu-yureka-mobile-phone-large-1

    Design & Display

The new Micromax Yu Yureka comes with a sleek and overall okay design language. The phone comes with a nice plastic finger proof back-panel in only grey color option that many might not find attractive, but at its low price the design is pretty impressive. However, its built quality is quite on the down side.

The Yu Yureka also gets a 5.5 inch large screen with a lower screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and a lower pixel density of 267 ppi than that of the ZenFone 2. Its colors are pretty bright, but its display quality is not as good as the ZenFone 2.

    Cameras

When it comes to cameras, then the new Micromax Yu Yureka is very similar to the ZenFone 2. The Yu Yureka also comes with a good quality 13 MP main camera lodged at the phone’s rear that comes along with LED flash to deliver good still images with details even in low light conditions. The rear camera is also capable of shooting nice videos and also slow motion video clips. The budget smartphone also packs in a capable 5 MP front or secondary camera to offer good quality selfies and video chat sessions.

    Processor & OS

The new Micromax Yu Yureka’s biggest strength is processor. It comes powered by a performing 1.5 GHz Octa-Core processor with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 64 bit chipset. The Octa-Core processor gives an edge to this budget smartphone with a fast smartphone experience and great performance even at its price point.

The Yu Yureka runs on the Cyanogen 11 which is based on the Android KitKat 4.4.4 OS and has its own advantages.

    RAM & Storage

The new Micromax Yu Yureka comes with 2 GB RAM which is pretty standard, while offering the inbuilt storage space of 16 GB.

    Other Features

The Micromax Yu Yureka also supports all latest connectivity options. It comes with a 2500 mAh battery, which is a big drawback as it does not offer enough backup to last even half day of good usage.

    Conclusion

When the two are compared as per their overall capabilities, then the new Asus ZenFone 2 is definitely a superior handset. The ZenFone 2 boasts of latest OS, better styling, built quality, battery and screen quality. However, the Micromax Yu Yureka with its shortcomings is a pretty worthy buy for those who don’t wish to cross the 10k budget line.
